Valter Amaral post-doctoral researcher

Welcome I am an early career researcher highly interested in contributing to the forward-thinking spirit, research-led teaching and cutting-edge discoveries within and beyond my home Institutions.

My research and teaching interests have been fostered by several team-based, international ventures. Since 2008 I develop postdoctoral research at University of Lisbon (Portugal) and Macquarie University (Australia), looking at the impacts of estuarine acidification on mangrove ecology. My PhD was on environmental constraints on crab populations, awarded by University of Lisbon and Marine Biological Association of the UK in 2008. I obtained my degree in Biology Applied to Marine Animal Resources from University of Lisbon in 2001.

My experience with outstanding mentors, have made me realize the impact good researchers and teachers can make in student’s motivation, curiosity and, ultimately, personal development.
